Our community guidelines help keep CampusConnect a welcoming, safe, and productive space for all students and alumni. Please read and follow these guidelines to ensure everyone has a positive experience.
CampusConnect is built on the foundation of creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment for college students and alumni. Our community thrives when every member contributes positively and treats others with dignity.
We welcome students and alumni from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. Diversity makes our community stronger.
Every interaction should be grounded in mutual respect. We treat each other as we would want to be treated.
We value honesty and authenticity. Be truthful in your interactions and represent yourself accurately.
Everyone deserves to feel safe. We are committed to protecting our members from harm and abuse.
Respectful communication is the cornerstone of our community. We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind.
Do not engage in targeted harassment, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact. This includes sending threatening messages, making unwanted advances, or deliberately intimidating others.
Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
Content that promotes violence or hatred against individuals or groups based on protected attributes is not allowed.
Do not mock, ridicule, or demean other members. Constructive criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not.
Disagreements are natural, but always focus on ideas, not people. You can disagree respectfully without resorting to personal attacks.
Authenticity builds trust within our community. Use your real identity and be honest about who you are.
Your profile should represent you accurately. Use your real name and a genuine photo to help build trust with other community members.
Do not pretend to be someone else, including other students, faculty, celebrities, or public figures. Creating fake accounts is strictly prohibited.
Do not falsely claim academic credentials, degrees, or affiliations with institutions you are not genuinely connected to.
Each person should have only one CampusConnect account. Multiple accounts for the same person are not permitted.
Safety is paramount. We have zero tolerance for content or behavior that threatens the safety of our members.
Do not make threats of violence, encourage violence, or glorify violent acts. This includes threats against individuals, groups, or institutions.
Do not post, share, or promote content related to illegal activities, including drug sales, weapons trafficking, fraud, or any other unlawful behavior.
Content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, suicide, or other dangerous behaviors is not allowed. If you or someone you know is struggling, please seek professional help.
Sexually explicit content, nudity, and pornography are strictly prohibited on CampusConnect.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services (911) immediately. You can also report the situation to our safety team, but emergency services should always be your first call.
Respecting others' privacy is essential. Never share personal information without consent.
Never share someone's personal information (address, phone number, workplace, etc.) without their explicit consent. This includes revealing information that could be used to identify or locate someone.
If someone asks you to stop contacting them or to remove content about them, respect their wishes. Consent matters in all interactions.
Do not share private conversations, photos, or videos without the consent of all parties involved. This includes screenshots of private messages.
Be cautious about what personal information you share. Think carefully before posting sensitive details about yourself.
Our marketplace is designed to help students buy and sell items safely. Follow these rules to ensure positive transactions.
Describe items honestly, including condition, defects, and any relevant details. Use real photos of the actual item you are selling.
Price items reasonably. Price gouging during emergencies or for essential items is not permitted.
Do not sell weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, counterfeit goods, stolen items, or any illegal products. Academic materials obtained illegally (exam answers, etc.) are also prohibited.
Meet in public, well-lit areas on campus for exchanges. Consider bringing a friend and trust your instincts if something feels wrong.
Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. Never send money in advance or share financial information. Report suspicious listings immediately.
CampusConnect is not responsible for transactions between users. Always exercise caution and use common sense when buying or selling items.
If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it. Your reports help us maintain a safe community.
Use the report button on any post, comment, message, or profile. Select the reason that best describes the violation and provide any additional context that might help our review.
Reports are confidential. The person you report will not know who reported them unless required by law.
Our Trust & Safety team reviews all reports carefully. We aim to respond to reports within 24-48 hours, though complex cases may take longer.
Do not submit false or malicious reports. Abusing the report system is itself a violation of these guidelines.
For urgent matters or detailed reports, email our Trust & Safety team at safety@campusconnect.com
We take violations seriously and apply consequences based on the severity and frequency of violations. Our goal is to educate and rehabilitate when possible, while protecting the community.
| Severity | Examples | Consequences |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Minor spam, off-topic posts, accidental policy violations | Warning, content removal, educational guidance |
| Medium | Repeated low-level violations, harassment, misleading content | Temporary suspension (7-30 days), feature restrictions |
| High | Threats, hate speech, illegal activity, severe harassment, doxxing | Permanent ban, potential legal action, report to authorities |
We consider context, intent, and history when determining consequences. First-time minor violations may receive more leniency than repeated offenses.
When we take action on your account or content, we will notify you of the decision and the reason, except where doing so could compromise safety.
If you believe a decision was made in error, you have the right to appeal. We are committed to fair and transparent enforcement.
You can submit an appeal through the notification email you received, through your account settings (if accessible), or by emailing appeals@campusconnect.com.
Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the enforcement action. We aim to review appeals within 7-14 business days.
Explain why you believe the decision was incorrect. Provide any relevant context or evidence that was not considered in the original review.
Appeals are reviewed by a different team member than the one who made the original decision, ensuring a fresh perspective.
You will receive a detailed response explaining the outcome of your appeal. The appeals decision is final in most cases, though exceptional circumstances may warrant further review.
